Unplug and head out to the great outdoors of Sabah! It is time to trade the concrete buildings with lush trees, and bedazzled amidst a starry night as you unwind for the day. In short, let’s pitch a tent!
Camping is usually associated as a nostalgic school curricular activity. A fond memory and experience with friends. Nowadays, camping trips are a convenient way to take a break. It is becoming increasingly popular since it is affordable, accessible, and does not require a lengthy absence to be enjoyed.
Camping has been demonstrated to increase emotional well-being by allowing participants to reconnect with nature and relax. There is that pure joy feeling in appreciating and comprehending nature’s best gift.
However, just because you are camping does not necessarily imply that you have to rough it out. Its versatility allows people of all ages to appreciate it. Even if you’re not an experienced camper who enjoys the great outdoors, there are always ways to make camping more or less personal. If you’ve never tried glamping, it’s just camping with a posh twist.
Sabah is quickly becoming a popular location for campers. As the second biggest state in the country, there are many camping destinations around the state. From the highlands to coastal camping getaways. Every place has its unique flair.
Head northwest to the Kota Belud area, which is known for its numerous campgrounds. Campsites in Kota Belud are largely accessible and provide convenient facilities for travellers. Located around 1.5 hours from Kota Kinabalu’s city centre, just seek for campsites around the Panataran and Wariu rivers. The popular campgrounds Nohutu Eco-Tourism, Polumpung Melangkap View Camp Site and Tegudon Tourism Village are in close proximity. As an additional reward, Kota Belud’s gorgeous landscape will make for an amazing photo backdrop. Surrounded by climbable peaks, hiking is notably a favourite pastime for local campers.
Locals and visitors alike also look forward to Kundasang and Ranau campgrounds. Cool mountain air and a preened grazing field. Visitors will be fascinated by Mount Kinabalu’s regal view. As you rise and shine, you may enjoy this spectacular dawn view from the comfort of your tent. The region has several campgrounds and is near to tourist attractions such as Kinabalu Park, Desa Dairy Farm, Alpaca Farm, Maragang Hill, Sabah Tea Garden and Poring Hot Spring. Visit the campsites such as Konunukan Garden, Hounon Ridge Farmstay, Komfy Kundasang, Tambiau Forest Ranau.
Opt in for unique ‘instagrammable’ accommodation tents with the Cloud Kinabalu, Tullynaw Glamping, Mongolian Yurt Wind Paradise Lodge, and Umea Glam Kundasang. These are just a few of the various glamping alternatives that will undoubtedly satisfy your comfort needs. We recommend booking a place ahead of time, especially during the school holiday season.
Camping trips to Kudat are fun for beach bums as well. Situated on Borneo Island’s northernmost tip, Kudat is famous for the beautiful beaches. For those in search of a tranquil getaway, Secret Place Beach Cafe and Camping Place offers a private experience with a calm beach view. The location is a secret haven for camp enthusiasts, just like its name suggests. Basic campsite but with a rustic cafe known for its oven-brick pizza. Campers in Kudat have a lot of options for things to do, such as go diving or snorkelling, take surfing lessons, feast on seafood and enjoy the Tip of Borneo landscape.
