About 20 Km from Tambunan town is Kampung Tikolod recreational getaway, where visitors can take joy with ‘fish spa massage’ at their tagal river. Tagal when loosely translated into Kadazandusun word means “do not” and for that in a native community that practice the Tagal river, does not allow any fishing activities to control the population of fishes and maintain a balance ecosystem.
A favourite camping site, Kg Tikolod and nearby Taman Rekreasi Kintup offer a retreat with nature featuring hiking trails, introduction to ginger farming, camping and anticipation to the annual fish harvesting season which is usually done once a year.
